Dawn Sadler
Team Member GSE 2004
Dawn is sponsored by the Vancouver Quadra
Rotary Club. She was born and raised in Vancouver and lives near the University
of British Columbia.
She teaches on the East Side of Vancouver in an inner city school.
Dawn has worked for the Vancouver School Board for eight years. She presently
teaches grade one, but she has also taught kindergarten, grade two and a
remedial class for children with behavioural difficulties. Dawn is very
interested in literacy initiatives and co-chairs the early literacy committee at
her school. She hopes to start a family literacy program at her school.
Previously she has taught preschool and has been the teacher assistant in the
learning assistance and English as a Second Language
Center in a Catholic School
in Vancouver. While in New Zealand Dawn
would appreciate the opportunity to visit different elementary schools and see
primary classrooms. She would like to discuss and observe current literacy
initiatives in these schools.
Dawn enjoys swimming, having coached and competed at one time. She enjoys walking, watching popular sports, attending live theatre, and visiting the art gallery. Other interests are photography, crafts and completing her masters degree.
