Danielle Hay

Danielle is sponsored by the Tsawwassen Rotary Club.  Born and raised in Prince George British Columbia and after graduating from high school Danielle enrolled at Simon Fraser University in Burnaby BC where she received BA in Psychology. Danielle is a counsellor who has worked with children, youth and families for the past five years.  Many of the youth she has counselled had faced difficult issues such as past physical, sexual and emotional abuse. Many of the clients that she works with are first nations (aboriginal) by descent. She is currently finishing her Masters degree in Counselling Psychology while also working in Private Practice counselling individuals, couples and families. 

During her Group Study Exchange tour Danielle would welcome speaking with youth counsellors discussing with them issues surrounding aboriginal children in Australia as well as comparing their protocols with issues relating to first nations children in Canada.  She would also like to learn about the people who seek counselling in Australia, and whether their presenting issues are more similar or different than the types of issues that  therapists see in Canada..
