Crystal is a Water Resources Engineer, specializing in stormwater management and works for a mid sized consulting engineering firm in Burnaby.  She is sponsored by the North Vancouver Rotary Club.  She grew up in Ontario, and moved to British Columbia 10 years ago.  Crystal enjoys snowboarding, hiking/biking, and would love to renew her scuba diving certification while in Australia.  She loves the water and animals, and would love to snorkel, surf, swim, learn about the Great Barrier Reef, and see local wildlife and pets.

For vocational days, Crystal would welcome the opportunity to visit local and senior government organizations, engineering firms and industry that deal with stormwater management and water resources engineering.  For example, City engineering/planning/environmental departments, Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology offices (Mackay, Rockhampton), Queensland Government Environmental Protection Agency, Natural Resources & Mines – Land and Water Management.

Stormwater management encompasses elements of:  precipitation and weather (data management, forecasting, radar), cyclones, flooding, erosion, natural disasters, storm surges, environmental protection of aquatic resources, riparian corridors, stormwater quality issues, sustainability, water sensitive urban design, ecologically sustainable development techniques, land use planning, hydrology, hydraulics, groundwater, coastal engineering.
